Integrative Psychotherapy tailored to individual needs
ABOUT ME
UKCP registered Psychotherapist and Supervisor

I’m Laura Bruton, a Psychotherapist and Supervisor based in North Yorkshire.
I love my work and feel privileged that I get to work with my clients and supervisees. Therapy is a collaborative experience and I like working together with clients to help them understand themselves better and lead more fulfilling lives.
I was drawn to exploring therapy as a career in my mid twenties when I worked as an administrator at the South London & Maudsley NHS trust. I did a certificate in counselling in London before moving to the North East and choosing to undertake a full training at the Northern Guild of Psychotherapy.
As a therapist, I’ve worked in my own private practice, as part of a psychotherapy team at The Retreat in York and outdoors in North Yorkshire.
I’ve also enjoyed sharing my knowledge as a trainer and supervisor and spent several years working as a core tutor for a UKCP accredited Psychotherapy training course.
In addition to working clinically I am also a Non-Executive Director for charity and NHS talking therapy provider Sunderland Counselling Services and I love being able to contribute to NHS services in this way.
I work as an Integrative Psychotherapist which means I use a range of approaches depending on the needs of my clients. I am a flexible practitioner and can work in a focussed way with people who have short or medium term goals. I can also work in a more exploratory way with people who feel drawn to therapy but aren’t quite sure why. I can offer creative methods such as working with Imagery and Sand Tray therapy but also understand that this isn’t everyone’s cup of tea!
Underneath any theories and techniques is a belief that everyone has the innate desire to live their lives in a way that feels true and right to them. I feel my job is to work in a person-centred way to support clients to find out what that looks like for their own unique life and circumstances.
